The upcoming Ghostbusters movie Ghostbusters: Afterlife is a direct sequel to the Ghostbusters and Ghostbusters II. In addition to the appearance of new franchise stars, the original Ghostbusters return.
The question naturally arises: How respectful is the new film in relation to its predecessors? Now one of the new stars is speaking out about that.
Leading actor Finn Wolfhard (Stranger Things) reported to British magazine NME the following: “Older Ghostbusters fans will find it a very loyal approach.”
“In addition, young people, and perhaps everyone, will see that these Ghostbusters are about family and relationships that these original Ghostbusters left behind.”
Wolfhard concludes: “And of course the film is also very funny. I am very enthusiastic and hope people will see it soon.”
Afterlife is about Callie (Carrie Coon) inheriting her father’s farm, one of the original Ghostbusters. She moves with her children Phoebe (Mckenna Grace) and Trevor (Wolfhard). There they find, among other things, Ecto-1, the vehicle of the Ghostbusters. The children have to decide if they want to follow in their footsteps.
