Servers old LittleBigPlanet games go offline for good

The servers of several LittleBigPlanet games are going offline.

Sony has announced this via the official LittleBigPlanet Twitter channel. These are the servers of LittleBigPlanet, LittleBigPlanet 2, the PS3 version of LittleBigPlanet 3 and LittleBigPlanet on the Vita.

The servers of all LittleBigPlanet games were already temporarily offline, because they came under fire since this spring. Several DDOS attacks were carried out by a player who was not happy with Sony’s handling of the franchise. Eventually, abusive messages started popping up in the game. Sony therefore decided to temporarily take all servers offline.

Sony says that taking the servers offline for good now is “the best way to keep the online environment safe for players”. The servers of LittleBigPlanet 3 on PlayStation 4 are back online.

Sony’s choice to solve the problems is not well received by all players. After all, the LittleBigPlanet games largely revolve around player-created levels. Those are no longer playable in the old LittleBigPlanet games.
