Like almost all events at the moment, the Formula 1 season has also been shut down. To keep fans entertained, the FIA has started a virtual racing season.

According to the FIA organization, the virtual races are not a replacement for the postponed races, but purely intended to entertain the F1 fans in the absence of the actual races. The virtual Grand Prix takes place in the Gfinity Esports Arena in Great Britain. There, the racers compete separately in the virtual racing game F1 2019 on PC. The matches can then be followed live via YouTube, Twitch or Facebook.

The first online Formula 1 race took place on March 22. The drivers raced against each other at the Virtual Bahrain Grand Prix. The race lasted about an hour and a half. View the full race below.

F1 2019 is available on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
