Apple to appeal against Epic Games ruling

Apple is appealing the ruling in the Epic Games case. Reuters reports that.

The company disagrees with the judge’s ruling, which ruled on December 9, 2020 that Apple cannot block links to digital stores outside the App Store. It therefore asked the judge for a postponement in the American court.

“The requested postponement allows Apple to protect consumers and its platform while the company handles complex and rapidly evolving legal, technological and economic matters,” Apple said.

The lawsuit between Apple and Epic started last year after Epic made its own payment system for Fortnite available via the App Store. As a result, Apple pulled the game from the App Store.

Epic therefore sued Apple. The company believes that the payment of thirty percent to Apple is too high and that developers have no choice in this.
