Genshin Impact was the most discussed game worldwide on social media platform Twitter last year.

This is according to official data from Twitter. Genshin Impact was followed by Apex Legends, Esemble Stars!, Final Fantasy, and Fate/Grand Order. In the Netherlands, Pokémon Go was the most discussed game on Twitter, followed by Genshin Impact.

Furthermore, it appears that last year more than 2.4 billion tweets about gaming were posted worldwide. That is 14 percent more than the year before. Most tweeted about games was in Japan, followed by the United States, Korea, Thailand and Brazil.

Of all the gaming events, E3 2021 was the most popular on Twitter. This was followed by The Game Awards, the Xbox Games Showcase, Gamescom 2021 and Summer Game Fest 2021.

Genshin Impact enjoys a lot of popularity anyway: the game also had the most popular subreddit last year. Genshin Impact was released in 2020 for PlayStation 4, PC, Android and iOS and last year for PlayStation 5. The game is free-to-play and contains a ‘gacha model’, a variant of loot boxes that allows players to use characters such as real money and earn weapons.
