In collaboration with European internet providers, PlayStation doses the download speeds on the PSN more carefully. This is to keep internet access in Europe stable during the corona outbreak.
Since the outbreak of the virus, many have become more dependent on the internet. For example, Steam has broken the user record for two weeks in a row and governments are calling on gamers not to go online during working hours in order not to overload the servers. Netflix and YouTube previously announced that the image quality would be slightly lower, and now Sony has also announced that it is looking for a good solution in collaboration with a number of internet providers.
PlayStation says to do this because during this period of self-isolation, people depend on the internet to work and maintain social contacts, which is why the gaming giant thinks they should also take measures. Sony says that downloads on the PlayStation Network may therefore take a little longer, but the experience during gameplay will not change.
