Apple also presents a new version of its cheapest iPad next to the iPad Air. The eighth-generation model retains the design of last year’s iPad and is therefore not yet making the switch to USB-C. The hardware will be upgraded to the A12 Bionic-soc, which was an A10 Fusion. According to Apple, the A12 is 40 percent faster and has twice as much GPU computing power.
Both new iPads run on iPadOS 14, the new version of the operating system will be released on Wednesday. The software includes improvements for the use of the Apple Pencil. The new entry-level model of the iPad is on sale from Friday for a minimum of 389 euros.
